Carmagnolle diving suit
The first anthropomorphic deep-sea diving suit appeared in Marseille.
In 1878, two brothers, Alphonse and Theodore, demonstrated to the public the first version of the costume: a metal prototype weighing 380 kilograms with twenty-five two-inch portholes in a helmet and movable joints (six segments for the arm, four for the leg and two segments for the belt).
